The Bird Place

The Bird Place is located on the Big Hole River in western Madison County, in southwest Montana, 6 miles southwest of Twin Bridges, and 25 miles north of Dillon.

General Description:

The Bird Place is a 74+/- acre piece of paradise that features some of the best that Montana has to offer. The Big Hole River is known world wide for its fishing. The lower stretch of the river, from Glen to Twin Bridges, contains primarily brown trout. This river is one of Montana's rivers known for its Salmon Fly hatch during the month of June. With tail water rivers and free flowing streams in the area, this is a fisherman's paradise. There are several other recreational opportunities in the area. It is a place where one can big game or bird hunt, hike and fish at the drop of a hat.

Property Summary:

At an elevation of 4700+/- feet the Bird Place has 74 deeded acres. The Big Hole Rive runs through the north end of the property for approximately 0.3 miles. It consists of irrigated pasture land and sub-irrigated river bottom ground. Primary access is via a county road known as the Pennington Road. The ground located on the north side of the river is accessed by an easement located between the Pennington Bridges. The irrigation water comes from the Big Hole River through a ditch known as the Paigeville Canal. This is a cool dry area with precipitation averaging between 10 and 12 inches per year. The average maximum temperatures range from 69 to 86 degrees from June to August, and 29 to 33 from December to February.
