Location/Access:

The property is located approximately seven miles south of the small town of Wise River. Wise River passes for a town on any Montana map you may look at, and-it serves the locals quite well. Mention the Wise River Valley to tourists or anglers and few will know in what state it resides. This beautiful valley is off the beaten path and bestows the romance of Montana's early history and un-crowded beauty. The Wise River Valley is situated between the Pioneer and Odell Mountain ranges in Southwestern Montana. Several mountain streams and springs from these two ranges converge in the valley, creating this prolific fishery. The Wise River begins roughly 30 miles south of the rustic, little town of Wise River. The cold, crystal clear waters journey north through beautiful valleys and plush meadows until converging with Montana's famed fishery; the Big Hole River.

Access to the property is provided by Highway 484, or better known as the Pioneer Scenic Byway. This highway traverses through the Pioneer Mountains, eventually meeting up with Highway 287 at Polaris, Montana. This route, as its name infers, is one of the most scenic drives in Montana.

The closest air service, hospital and main service industries can be found in Butte, Montana. Butte is known to offer its visitors excellent, hearty dining and a local nightlife worthy of many urban legends.

Recreation:

The Wise River is a large stream with a certain mystic charm about it and its surroundings. Access to the river is fairly close from the scenic byway that runs along the river. The river is host to such species as Rainbow, Brown, Cutthroat and Brook Trout. Rocky Mountain Whitefish are also present, as well as Arctic Grayling. A large fish caught on the Wise will not turn heads in comparison to some big daddies caught on the Big Hole. On average a fish on the Wise will tend to be about eleven or twelve inches in length. On occasion fish in the four to six pound class are caught, a difficult task considering the Wise River often requires the use of 6x tippets to fish its crystal clear waters. Big game hunting opportunity abounds throughout the Big Hole Valley. The property is bound on two sides by National Forest allowing the owner to access excellent elk hunting from the back door. The owner of the property on several occasions has taken elk on the hillsides, which can be viewed and accessed from the property. Game numbers are very healthy in the area as attested by recent game and fish surveys of the area. The area is quite well known for its large elk and deer herds and is a very coveted area for a moose tag draw. Tourists also know the.area very well for its attractions during the winter months. With Maverick Mountain ski area so near and endless miles of trails for snowmobilers, the Big Hole and Wise River valleys have tremendous recreation year round.
