While commercial air service is provided in both Butte and Bozeman, the Dillon airport will support private jets and personal aircraft with its 6,500 foot paved runway. The Dillon airport is located just 20 miles from the ranch.
Acreage:
The Beaverhead Spring Creek Ranch consists of 1,865 acres; 1,715 of which are deeded. The bulk of the land is considered to be river bottom riparian land that sub-irrigates from seasonal high ground water. The ranch has also been cultivated to include some high producing hay meadows. On the eastern boundary, there is a high bench that provides an overview of the entire ranch operation.
Ranch Description:
This exclusive property has over four miles of the "blue ribbon" Beaverhead River frontage, plus seven miles of other sloughs and Spring Creek which could provide excellent habitat for trout fisheries. The sub-irrigated river bottom pasture provides excellent grazing for both cattle and wildlife alike. In fact, this is one of the most productive river-bottom units in the valley. The combination of springs, sloughs, and the river itself provide habitat for trout, a variety of waterfowl, and upland game birds such as pheasants. Whitetail Deer are prevalent on the property and many nice trophy animals have been taken in the past few years. While the ranch is an obvious haven for wildlife, it is not to be overlooked for its abilities as a functional cattle operation. The ranch's good water rights to the Beaverhead and Big Hole Rivers and also the California Slough, provide abundant irrigation for the hay meadows. The buffalo berry and rabbit brush provide plenty of cover for winter and spring calving. These factors and many more work together to make the Beaverhead Spring Creek Ranch a superior working cattle ranch and recreational paradise.
Improvements:
The Beaverhead Spring Creek Ranch has an owner's residence that contains five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large family room and a living room. The windows, siding and roof have been replaced in the last few years. There is a barn and a set of corrals in the center of the property. New jack leg fences have been added to the property along the Silver Bow Lane entrance. Some of the best consulting firms in Montana have designed a full array of water and habitat improvements for the ranch. Much of the drafting and permitting work has already been done. This work will go on to benefit the next lucky owner.
Recreation & Wildlife:
The Twin Bridges area is known as the center of the greatest concentration of quality fishing streams in the United States. Winston Rod Company, one of the premier fly rod builders in the country, is headquartered there. The habitat diversity on the Beaverhead Spring Creek Ranch is excellent, with creeks, sloughs, ponds and the Beaverhead River. The stretch of the Beaverhead River that turns through the ranch is a relatively slow, meandering stream. The combination of good cover from its brushy banks, lots of deep holes and plenty of riffles provide an excellent environment for good populations of fish. In addition to the great fishing and hunting amenities, the ranch offers some of the finest waterfowl habitat in the entire area. Thousands of ducks and geese gather in the fields, on the springs and sloughs and along the river bottom. Upland birds such as Hungarian Partridge and pheasants are also becoming strong in number on the ranch.
