The Big Hole River Reserve is nestled along the bank of one of Montana’s most famous free-stone rivers. One of only 17 rivers in the country that run totally un-dammed from start to finish, the Big Hole flows through some of Montana’s most breathtaking scenery.

Location and Access:

The Big Hole River Reserve is located just outside the small western town of Divide, Montana in Silverbow County, and is accessible year-round via a private gravel driveway off Highway 43. Divide offers basic services and has the Blue Moon Saloon, a K-8 school, full service fly shop, and a post office.

Improvements:

The main home, a beautiful log structure built in 1981, boasts 2,980± square feet, 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. A 1,000± square foot loft area consists of a bedroom, bathroom, and sunroom area. Views of the Big Hole River from the upstairs balcony are amazing. Many a night have the doors been left open to listen to the soothing sounds of the river.

Perfect for entertaining, the home’s main floor features 1,980± square feet and has an incredible rock fireplace in the living room. The expansive country kitchen has a brick cove over the range, an island for prep work or eating, large pantry, and ample cabinets. The main floor bedrooms each open onto a patio overlooking the river.

Next to the house is a two-car detached log garage of 960± square feet. The owners added a well-built, insulated shop with a one bedroom, one bathroom guesthouse in 1989. This shop/guesthouse spans 2,112± square feet and has a living area and kitchen. There is a pump house and extra storage building on the property as well.

The buildings are well placed along the river and the rest of the acreage has been fenced into a great little horse pasture. Although the pasture is not irrigated the neighbor has cut the field and made a nice little stand of hay.
